Sümer Primary School
In 1898, in the period of Sultan Abdülhamid, it was built for educating people for weaving factory.There was eight years' education between 1898 and 1914.
The first two years were ihtiyat, next three years were ibtidaiyye and last three years were Rüsdiye.The education was like today's primary school.After 1914, ihtiyat(the preparation class of primary school) was abolished and education was arranged as three years named as first period, three years named as second period.The school called as Ilk Mektep after 1927.Until 1935, all classes made their lessons with only one teacher.After 1935 the teachers were five.In 1966 extra classrooms were constructed.
The school's first name was Asagi Hereke Ilk Mektebi and later changed as Sümer Ilkokulu.After 1997 it was named as Sümer Primary School.
